Heating with radiators

What to consider before buying the radiators

Heating with radiators

Radiator heating is a widespread form of heating that allows optimum heat distribution throughout the living space.

Radiant heating heats the air and provides heating to the whole room by means of radiation and air convection/circulation through the room. The heat is transferred from the hot water to the air.

To minimise heat loss, it is a good idea to ensure good quality pipework, keeping pipes as short as possible and correctly positioned (especially when passing through walls) to prevent concrete cracking when pipes are stretched and shrunk.

Unlike underfloor heating, radiators respond quickly to temperature changes. Radiators can also be used in the medium temperature regime typical of better heat pumps.

Aluminium radiators

Aluminium radiators radiate heat perfectly into the room. They are corrosion resistant which ensures a long lifetime.

Panel radiators

Panel radiators have a flat surface, making them easy to clean. They are usually made of steel. The dimensions are compact.

Tubular radiators

Tubular radiators consist of several tubes connected to each other. They are typically used in the bathroom because they are excellent for drying towels.

Articulated radiators

Articulated radiators consist of interconnected links. The number of links influences the capacity of the radiator to radiate heat into the room.

Radiator hiss

Radiator hum is caused by the presence of air in the heating system and the system must be vented.
